Professional Statement
Professional statement: I am certified in acute care medicine, family medicine and psychiatry/mental health. With these certifications, I am able to provide comprehensive patient care. I believe in treating the whole person with compassion and empathy.
Why did you become a provider? I became a provider because I wanted to make a greater impact on patient health.
Why did you decide to join UPH? I joined UnityPoint Health because its mission statement spoke to me: "To give the healthcare we'd like our loved ones to receive."
Describe your typical patient: My patient population in family medicine has generally been middle-age individuals with no or a couple of chronic conditions. Often I see the entire family.
What would your patients say about you? I believe patients would say I genuinely care about them and listen to their needs.
What is the most important thing patients should know about you? I like to know the ins and outs of the histories of my patients so I feel connected and can make good decisions.
How would you describe the ideal provider/patient relationship? A patient/provider relationship should be a partnership based on open communication and trust.
What is your medical philosophy: I make decisions carefully with input from both patients and their families.
What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy reading, biking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
Describe your family: I have three daughters, the oldest is 24 and the younger two are 20-year-old twins. My fiance works at Collins Aerospace, and we are getting married in June 2024. My last name will change to Stewart and I will gain a step son who is 25. I also have three dogs.
