Professional Statement
Professional Statement:
My goal with every patient is to meet them where they are and use their profile of current abilities and interests to help them reach their fullest potential. In my years of practicing as an SLP, I've gotten a lot of practice working with older children and young adults with developmental disabilities such as autism. I also do work in early intervention and provide intervention for preschool and school-aged children. While I'm able to provide high-quality services in the areas of articulation, fluency, and voice, my areas of special interest are receptive and expressive language, pragmatic/social language, and written expression. I've completed the full Orton-Gillingham training and can treat children who struggle with dyslexia or reading skills, as well. The outpatient clinic setting at Witwer has been an excellent place for me to provide speech-language services to young people in a one-on-one setting with full caregiver involvement. It's also given me the chance to collaborate with other professionals, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, and a dietitian, to improve outcomes for my patients.Â
Why did you become a speech-language pathologist?
I have a real passion for language and communication and wanted to use that to help others who struggle. Communication is a basic human right, helping people build meaningful social connections and have greater independence and engagement in their lives. Improving one person's communication skills improves the lives of many people at once. It's felt natural for me to help in this way.
What is the most important thing for patients to know about your practice?
I'm fun-loving, open-minded, and care deeply for every patient and family I've ever served. I love people, learning, and being part of a team.Â
